Pineapple Tempeh

Bacon-style TempBurger slices, seared then finished under the broiler with pineapple and a brown sugar glaze. A Hawaiian classic, made over.

Slice each @tempehine tempeh burger patty in half horizontally. Heat a skillet over medium heat with the vegetable oil. Brown the 8 slices for 3 minutes per side.

Meanwhile, stir together all the ingredients for the "bacon" marinade in a bowl. Pour it over the tempeh in the hot skillet and flip the slices often so they soak up the liquid. Leave them in the skillet until the liquid has evaporated.

Preheat the oven to broil. Lay the slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet and add a few canned pineapple rings. Stir the 4 ingredients together for the brown sugar and pineapple juice butter. Brush the slices generously with it, then broil for a few minutes until nicely coloured, keeping a close watch. Take out of the oven and serve.
